The old Fern Garden has been replanted as a formal box parterre and is now known as the Sunken Garden.

The Coronation Grove, at the south eastern end of the garden has been refurbished as a wild garden with the addition of new tree plantings and groups of sweet briar and other shrub roses. The grass within this area is especially rich with wild flowers and bulbs.

After the replanting of the Madeira Walk the herbaceous perennials have now become established and make a magnificent show in the summer.

The two borders are a mirror image of themselves and planted in shades of blue, lilac and mauve. Bedding in the Dutch Garden will again feature Coleus, a popular plant used for bedding in Victorian times. Also used will be Cannas and ornamental cabbage 'Tokio'. The statues in the Dutch Garden and the Venus Garden are by Thomas Waldo Story.
