Gardening Supervisor - £26,000 to £30,000 per annum

Come and join a historical and evolving rural country Estate with stunning gardens centred around our beautiful 19th century house where your work is valued.

Ascott Estate is a 4,400-acre rural country Estate centred in Wing, Buckinghamshire.

The gardens are open to the public between March and September and are a popular attraction with 45,000 visitors enjoying the magnificent Gardens.

The Gardening Supervisors role

Working with the Head Gardener you will be managing, developing, and motivating the gardening team including our volunteers. You will also be tasked with many gardening and maintenance jobs from maintaining the vast array of shrubs and plants we have in the gardens to maintaining all garden machinery. It will involve great attention to detail and ensuring all tasks are completed fully each and every time. You will be working a 39-hour working week with an early finish on Fridays, there will also be some need for additional hours during the summer months on a rota system. It also important to note you will be required to work in all weathers.

About you

This is not your average Gardening Supervisor role and requires someone who is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about gardens and gardening and has worked on a large estate or public gardens.

You must be an excellent communicator and can supervise a team of gardeners on the estate team.

You will have trained as a professional Gardener/horticulturalist, have a good level of plant knowledge experience, be NVQ level 4 qualified and be confident to participate in garden activities and event and have a history of maintaining garden machinery.

It is also important that you can use tractors chainsaws and pedestrian mowers with accreditation and have a good knowledge of health and safety.
